Brightburrow Pediatric Dentistry is a pediatric dental practice in Cedarfield, Ohio. We treat infants, children, and teenagers, including patients with special healthcare needs, and we have been the dental home for Cedarfield families since 2016.

A short, unhurried first appointment for babies and toddlers, done knee-to-knee on your lap, with a full exam, a gentle cleaning, and time for your questions.

Routine cleanings, exams, fluoride, and x-rays when they are actually indicated, on a recall interval set for your individual child rather than by policy.

Nitrous oxide for anxious children and longer appointments, plus oral conscious sedation and hospital general anesthesia for children who need more than that.

Dental care for children with autism, sensory differences, developmental disabilities, and medical complexity, with accommodations arranged before you arrive.

A wooden tunnel in the corner of the waiting room, there since we opened in 2016.

Carved from black walnut and on the front desk since 2017. Most children say hello on the way in.

A sticker for every visit. They are for showing up, not for being brave.

Restocked every Friday. Every child picks something on the way out.

A first appointment takes about 40 minutes. Children under three are examined knee-to-knee, lying back across your lap and facing you.

The care is genuinely good and both dentists are great with our boys. My one complaint is the Thursday after-school block. We have had that slot four times and three of those we waited past twenty minutes, once closer to forty, which with a hungry seven-year-old is a long time. Everything else about this office is excellent, and the front desk always apologizes, but I would rather they just book fewer people.
My daughter is three and had been to another office where it did not go well at all. Dr. Julia handed her a giant plastic molar and just let her hold it. Sat there and answered questions about it for probably five minutes before anything else happened. By the time the exam started my kid was fine. I did not know an appointment could go like that.
Our son took a soccer ball to the face on a Sunday and knocked out a front tooth. I called the after-hours number expecting a machine and Dr. Julia picked up. She talked me through putting it in milk and met us at the office within the hour. The tooth survived.
Delta Dental, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, Guardian, United Concordia, Anthem, and Ameritas. We accept Ohio Medicaid through CareSource and Buckeye Health Plan, and we do not cap how many Medicaid appointments we book per day.
Out of network? We still see your child, file the claim for you, and quote you the number before the appointment rather than after it.

A child should see a dentist by their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth coming in, whichever happens first. This is the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
That feels early to most parents, and the first visit is genuinely short. What it buys you is a baseline: we can spot early decay while it is still reversible, check that the jaw and bite are developing normally, and give you specific instructions for the teeth your child actually has. Families who start at one tend to avoid the emergency visit at four.
A first visit at Brightburrow takes about 40 minutes and includes a full exam, a gentle cleaning, fluoride varnish if you consent to it, and time for your questions. For children under three, the exam is usually done knee-to-knee, with your child lying back across your lap facing you.
Nothing happens without warning. We show your child every instrument before it is used, and we say what it does in plain words. If your child is not ready for part of the visit, we skip that part and note it for next time. No child has ever been held down in this office.
Yes. A parent or guardian is welcome in the treatment room for any appointment, at any age, and you never have to ask permission. Our operatories have a parent chair in them for exactly this reason.
The one thing we will ask is that you let us do the talking during the exam. Children take their cues from the adult in the room, and phrases meant to reassure, like “it won’t hurt” or “be brave,” introduce the idea that it might. If we need you to hold a hand or a phone, we will say so.
Free lot behind the building, entered from Alder Mill Road just past the credit union. The north entrance is level with the sidewalk and wide enough for a double stroller. The elevator to Suite 200 is immediately inside on the left; the stairwell is next to it if your child would rather climb.
We hold two openings every morning for children who woke up in pain. After hours, the same number reaches Dr. Julia or Dr. Marco directly. It is not an answering service.
