Insurance we accept

We are in network with most major PPO plans and we accept Ohio Medicaid. If your plan is not listed, we will still see your child and file the claim for you.

Which dental insurance plans do you accept?

Brightburrow is in network with the following plans:

  • Delta Dental Premier and Delta Dental PPO
  • Cigna DPPO
  • Aetna DPPO
  • MetLife PDP Plus
  • Guardian
  • United Concordia
  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Dental
  • Ameritas
  • Principal

We accept Ohio Medicaid through CareSource and Buckeye Health Plan for children through age 20.

What if my plan is not on that list?

We will still see your child. We file the claim for you as an out-of-network provider and you pay the difference between what your plan allows and our fee.

For most out-of-network PPO plans that difference is smaller than families expect on preventive care, and larger than they expect on crowns. Rosa will give you the actual number for your plan before your appointment.

How do you verify benefits?

Rosa verifies benefits before every new patient visit and again at the start of each calendar year. Bring your card to the first visit, or call ahead with the member ID and we will run it before you come.

Insurance companies change networks without notifying providers or patients, and their online directories are frequently wrong. If you saw us listed somewhere, call and confirm with us directly rather than trusting the directory.

What does dental insurance usually cover for children?

Most plans cover preventive care, meaning exams, cleanings, fluoride, and x-rays, at or near 100 percent twice a year. Fillings are typically covered at 70 to 80 percent, crowns at 50 percent, and orthodontics under a separate lifetime maximum if the plan includes them at all.

Two things catch families out. Many plans stop covering fluoride at age 14 or 16. Many cover sealants only on first molars and not second molars, or only up to a certain age. We will tell you when your child is about to cross one of those lines.

What if we have two plans?

Bring both cards. Coordination of benefits between a primary and secondary plan can meaningfully reduce what you pay, and the rules for which plan is primary for a child depend on the parents’ birthdays rather than anything intuitive. Rosa handles this and it is worth her time to sort out.

Questions we cannot answer

We cannot tell you whether your employer is changing plans in January, and we cannot get an insurer to cover something they have decided not to cover. What we can do is appeal, and we do, and we win a reasonable share of them.
