Dr. Julia Hartmann is a board-certified pediatric dentist and the founder of Brightburrow Pediatric Dentistry. She has practiced pediatric dentistry since 2013 and opened the Cedarfield office in 2016.

She grew up in Wickham, eleven minutes from the practice, and had a genuinely terrible first dental experience at age five involving a dentist who told her to stop crying. She has described this as the entire reason she does what she does, and it explains a policy that surprises some parents: at Brightburrow, nobody holds a child down. If a child is not ready, we stop, and we try again another way.

Dr. Julia completed her dental degree at The Ohio State University and her pediatric residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, where she spent two years treating medically complex children and children under general anesthesia. That residency is why the practice takes patients other offices refer out: children with autism, sensory processing differences, cerebral palsy, and congenital heart conditions that require antibiotic premedication.

She is the practice’s sedation provider and holds the office’s permit for minimal and moderate sedation, along with current PALS certification.

What she is known for around here

The tooth model. There is a giant plastic molar that lives in operatory two, and Dr. Julia will hand it to a nervous child and let them hold it for as long as they want before anything else happens. It has been dropped hundreds of times and one of the roots is glued back on.
